Definitely the longest break from updating this Blog me thinks.  This summer season of 2017 has flown by with working at Auberge Inn Thyme in Shediac and managing to participate in a couple of group exhibits.  At the Inn I've managed guest services as well as the Inn Gallery representing local maritime area artists Lise Richard, Jules Landry, Cynthia Decoste, Bea Salsman, Pauline Bleakney, and "moi-meme" to name a few.  We also represent various local potters such as Ginette Arsenault.

The group exhibits are always a fun way to come together as artists to show our local talents to the tourist and local population alike.  The first was the celebration of Canada 150 at Notre Centre Communitaire in Grande-Digue.  My rughookings were on display as well as the works of other rughookers from our group that meets in the fall and winter months at the same community center.  We "hookeuses" demonstrated creating our art and answered questions to those who were curious as to how to go about becoming a "hookeur".   Anyone is welcome to join our group on Tuesday mornings at same community center.  Amongst the group are several well versed women on the art and history of rughooking!  Other local artists, dancers, cultures were on hand for the celebrations.  I enjoyed learning more about the Mi'kmaq First Nation culture and talking with the first female Treaty Chief Ann Mary Steele.  A purchased a beautiful hand beaded bracelet that she created.  A wonderful lunch in the way of soups representing all Canadian Provinces was served.  Well done Notre Centre volunteers.

The second group exhibit I participated in was that of the Eglise Historique de Barachois, Une Chaise - Une Histoire.  I created a chair for both the inside exhibit and outdoor exhibit from all recycled materials.  Always a fun exhibit to be a part of every summer.  Arts plein air!! Amazing work by all involved.  A must see.  This exhibit runs thru til September 25th in Barachois, New Brunswick.

Here is a photo montage of my sunflower garden in full bloom, some works at the exhibits and travels to Saugenay Lac St Jean, Quebec that is always visually inspirational.
